We have all been shocked and saddened by the brutal attacks of Isis extremists around the globe. The reality is that this group will do their utmost to establish an Islamic State, dragging us all back into the dark ages. Historically the group that suffers most under Islamic rule is Women. They are degraded, striped of all respect and reduced to a role of a servant.
When it comes to women, we, in partnership with AFMIN, are busy doing just the opposite! We believe that Christ has died to also restore the position and role of women to God’s original intention – equal in worth, in dignity and in value to God.
That is exactly why AFMIN held numerous pilot projects in 2015 with selected women leaders, and will be launching ten women’s empowerment programs in 2016.
We just held two phase 2, follow-up pilot projects with women leaders in the countries of Zambia and Rwanda. These were women that already were in positions of leadership and influence in society and that could only attend on invitation from AFMIN. Subjects that were dealt with were, Understanding Emotional Trauma; Ethical Leadership; Self-confidence; Interpersonal Relationships and Leadership in 2015.
The response to the teaching on emotional trauma was unbelievable! This is understandable keeping in mind the history of wars, sexual abuse and the tragedy of genocide in Africa. We are more committed than ever to include a dynamic teaching on understanding and dealing with emotional trauma in our module on Health and Wellness.
The enthusiasm and energy that the programs and teachings were received with were very encouraging! In Zambia we had 252 women attending representing the business, professional and political sectors, as well as Church. Three Ambassadors also attended. In Rwanda we had 294 women leaders attending. These women were all attending on invitation only.
We got very positive feedback from the attendees and the surveys we did are greatly helping us to fine-tune our curriculum. There is no doubt that these programs laid an excellent and thorough groundwork for the official launch in 2016.
In the history of Rwanda there has never been a program to empower women like this one. – The executive director of the Evangelical Alliance in Rwanda
Thank you for your prayers and financial support that are making all of this possible. We are more committed than ever to produce and empower women leaders that can serve as outstanding representatives of the Kingdom in every sector of society!
